Evening Photography: Quick tricks 1

Advantage of automatic camera could be a big disadvantage some some. I faced that quite a few time until I realised the reason behind it.
You might have noticed that when you take photograph in night or evening everything around turn out to be dark. But when the photo graph was taken it's not dark at all. So what went wrong? As the light in surrounding area is comparatively low, camera auto flash takes it as insufficient light and uses auto uses flash. In most small camera this flash light is not power full enough to suppress surrounding light completely. As a result of that the out come is a complete dark photograph.
This can be avoided in two way. First is take photo without flash. So disable your flash, take photograph. This will take comparatively longer time and large exposer. So hold the camera steady. A tripod would be handy in this situation. If the surrounding light is not too low you will get a photograph which gives natural view of the area.

Scenario two: surrounding light is good, but you also want to have some one standing on the light. In this case you need bit more light. Try to face your target towards the brightest light. If that is not enough, use additional fixed light, still avoid flash.
If you don't have additional light, only camera flash is the available option, then make target stand back again brightest point. And use flash in this condition. Out could very depending on the back light. If back light bright enough, then flash will make target visible at the same time back light will make surrounding visible. If surrounding light is not so high a relatively darker photo will come.
